Newsletter 2020/3

Good day, dear friends!

I would like to write about things that happen in life of my family during the last four months. First half of the summer past well. Though I almost had no work, God has caused a few people to support us financially, so we did not have serious troubles.

My wife Valya had opportunity to go with two daughters Nadya and Bogdana to Odessa to Grandma (my mother-in-law). During this time I was able to provide mini-renovation – put the linoleum in kitchen and bathroom and painted the floor in living-room – the biggest room of our house.

Then the troubles began. Our youngest son Kolya (our third child) should go to 1st grade this autumn. Two weeks before 1st of September he had high temperature and we had to go to hospital. Almost two weeks he had treatment in our town and then was sent to Cherkassy (regional center). There is a regional children’s hospital and there are some specialists, which are absent in our town. He spent there 12 more days. The health problems were caused by dysfunction of kidneys – approximately, glomerulonephritis, but the doctors did not give precise diagnosis…

I did not go to Baku, because the borders of Azerbaijan were closed.

Unfortunately, the situation with COVID in Ukraine significantly got worse. If in spring and beginning of summer the number of COVID-patients was about 500-700 patients/a day, now this number grew in 10 times and a number of positive tests is about 6 thousands a day. Also, we have to consider the fact, that government pays 300% rate to doctors who are working with COVID-patients. That is why there are some misusages and cramming. The territory of Ukraine is divided in four zones – “red”, “orange”, “yellow” and “green”. Most strict limitations are in “red” zone.

Beginning from tomorrow, Smila town is in “red” zone. It means that trains, schools and some shops won’t work. Buses could work, but half-empty. Last time owners of transportation companies refused to work in such mode, saying that it is unprofitable. What will happen now —  I don’t know. May be, I’ll have to buy a cargo-bicycle.

My family is large, so there is a need to buy regularly food and essential goods in large quantities. I have a shop nearby my house. But food and goods there are in limited assortment, not always fresh and prices little bit higher than in supermarkets or markets.

Also, my elder son Artem still needs diagnostics and checkup because of regular stomach pains. Approximate diagnosis is gastritis. For precise diagnosis it is necessary to go to Cherkassy and spend couple of days in hospital. But considering the present situation, I don’t know if it is possible.

My youngest daughter Bogdana (3,6 y.o.) was ill about 10 days. She had had throat inflammation and high temperature, which we could not get down. We even were ready to go to hospital, but she was not taken there, because hospitals in our town are full. May be, treatment at home was better for her.

I still had problems with work. I receive some orders, but is not enough to cover all expenses, including expenses for medical treatment for my kids.

Also, I have some problems with health – chronic bronchitis and problems with waist.  Considering that and also poor health of my wife Valya, working at home is only opportunity to gain money.

Regularly I have to take a loan in bank to cover current expenses and buy food.

Prayer requests:

1) Opportunity for treatment of Artem or bettering of his health, so we could delay this issue until Spring;

2) Health of all members of my family;

3) Sufficient quantity of work orders, in order to cover all expenses and decrease sum of debt to bank.

I will be thankful for Your prayer support and personal encouragement!
